Join the Bronx Miracle: Support MBSCC Today
Fifty years ago, the Bronx faced challenges that seemed insurmountable. Crime, poverty, and urban decline defined the landscape, and many had lost hope. But from this adversity, the Mid Bronx Senior Citizens Council (MBSCC) emerged as a beacon of transformation and resilience. Known as the “Downtown Bronx,” MBSCC has dedicated itself to empowering residents, supporting vulnerable seniors, and revitalizing neighborhoods.
From its humble beginnings in 1973, MBSCC has grown into one of the leading nonprofit community development organizations in the region. It started by coordinating essential services for seniors and quickly expanded its mission to meet the diverse needs of the Bronx community. Through groundbreaking initiatives like Project Homebound, which provides homebound seniors with meals, transportation, and advocacy, and the rehabilitation of over 28 buildings into affordable housing, MBSCC has changed countless lives.
Today, MBSCC continues to serve over 1,100 families, seniors, and formerly homeless individuals through affordable housing. Its impact stretches across generations, from children to seniors, with programs that provide job training, family support, and community building. Their efforts helped turn the Bronx into one of the nation’s top ten communities, earning recognition for its transformation—dubbed the “Bronx Miracle.”
But this miracle isn’t possible without you. Whether it’s volunteering your time at one of MBSCC’s seven senior centers, contributing to programs that deliver meals to the elderly, or making a donation to support affordable housing projects, your involvement fuels this extraordinary work.
Join us in continuing the Bronx Miracle. Together, we can empower lives, rebuild communities, and ensure a brighter future for everyone.
